Please email Christine Bucan at c.bucan@ufl.edu with any more specific inquires.

Will I receive course credit for competing on the UF Bateman Team?

Bateman is a class that requires a two-semester commitment; members receive 3 hours of Research credit in the fall semester and 3 hours of Campaigns course credit in the spring semester. A special section of Public Relations Campaigns is assigned to members of the Bateman Team, if they have not yet taken this course. Students who have taken Campaigns are still eligible to be selected for the Bateman Team, if they are not graduating before May. Students who fall into this category will receive independent study credits instead.

Who can join the UF Bateman Team?

In the past, most members have been a public relations major, but the competition is open to all communications majors, as long as you are a PRSSA member. The Public Relations department selects invitees during the summer prior to the competition.

What is special about the UF Bateman Team?

Public relations professionals recognize Bateman Team membership as an indicator that the student is among the best at his or her university. There is significant prestige for having served on a Bateman Team; there is even more professional recognition for members of a team who place among the top three or receive the top 15 honorable mention. UF teams often rank at the top of the competition.
