All About BCW Global’s HAROLD Internship Program

Sheila Powers, Alejandra Arias and Monique Soriano from BCW Global joined UF PRSSA in collaboration with BPRSS and HPRSA on Jan. 20 to talk to students about the 2021 HAROLD Internship Program. 

BCW Global is one of the world’s largest full-service global communications agencies. BCW Global works to create digital and data-driven content for an integrated communications programs grounded in earned media. This applies across all channels for clients, including the consumer, corporate, crisis management, healthcare, public affairs and technology sectors.

The HAROLD Internship Program is one of the most advanced PR trainings. It is a 10-week training where students work side-by-side with the best in the business. Students chosen will experience strategy discussions to full-blow creative sessions. They will also meet with senior leadership in the company, including the North American President, Market Leaders and Practice Leaders. Tasks will include research, media, monitoring, building media lists, taking notes in meetings and coordinating events. This opportunity is also paid. 

Carly Rogers, current Assistant Account Executive for Public Affairs & Crisis at BCW Global and UF PRSSA alumni, was a HAROLD intern during her time at UF.

“Personally, the best part of the program was having the opportunity to work in a place that employs some of the best minds in the industry,” said Rogers. “I learned a lot from working on various accounts and interacting with the experienced members of my department.” 

Rising seniors, 2021 graduates and current graduate students are eligible to apply for the program. The internship will be remote this summer, but there are some offices across the U.S. that are available to the interns.

The application includes a resume, cover letter and a 500-word essay response. Powers explained to UF PRSSA members that they read every single cover letter, as that is what sets applicants apart from one another. The cover letter is where the research and passion to work for BCW Global shines through.
